North Kessock couple join the Haven 200 Club

Released: 01/01/1970

A North Kessock couple, who are regular users of the Merkinch Centre in Inverness, are the latest supporters to meet the Haven 200 Challenge Club.

Kay and James Mackenzie have donated £210 to the Haven Appeal by collecting £2 coins.

They handed over their jar of coins to Elsie Normington, a community development officer at the Merkinch Community Centre to join a growing list of supporters of the Appeal, which aims to raise £4 million for a new centre at Smithton, Inverness for children and young people with complex and severe learning difficulties.

Mrs Mackenzie is a member of the Singing for Pleasure choir, which meets at the Merkinch Centre and is also a regular attender at Centre activities, such as the knitting club. James attends the Wednesday Lunch Club and is also a keen supporter of events at the Centre.

Mrs Mackenzie said. “Raising monies for the children in our community who most deserve it is a really worthy cause. My husband and I are 100% behind the appeal and wish the Foundation every success in raising the funds needed to make the centre project become a reality.”
